Education System in India

Its really fun writing on a topic which people only talk n implement less...Its similar to what MBA colleges talk about entrepreneurship but without any help...350 + MBA Colleges in Pune..

Amazing stats..Isn't it? DTE & AICTE hope they are listening...

Quality of students : Horrible
Teacher to Student Ratio : Poor
Expectations : Huge
Communication Skills : ZERO
Placements : 100Percent ( Claimed by most of the colleges )
Skill Level : Does it really matter?
Company : Recruitment & Training Cost increasing every year
Alumni Network : Close to Zero..College don't bother once the students passes out
Permanent Faculty Quality of teaching : Poor
Teaching Faculty : Mostly composed of students who passed out recently
Books Used : Guides like Pragati
Communication between students n teachers : NIL

whats your take on this?? Put in your thoughts...lets take the initiative n change it...

Social Media Craze in India

Social Media Craze is really picking up..But how effective its going to be ?
Its yet to be tested. Companies in Indian context are really fooling companies..
Without understanding even the basic business model , commitment is give..

Charges are either too low or too high. There are no fixed parameters. The best part is companies catering to B2B as well B2C clients make the same mistake. Companies providing these services are taking advantage of this knowledge gap..Does creating a face-book account help you brand..Or Having a twitter account where the company only tweets works...

Focus on customer engagement is NIL. Companies are not aware of different applications which could be integrated to make the campaign effective.

No Thought process.
No Thinking.
No Strategy.

Just Creation & then hope people join it.
The best part is Social Media is long term process which helps you build PR & create a viral buzz. But People are more interested in statistics..Does it really work ? If my content is not effective n appealing would people be a part of it..

Companies providing such services & particularly freelancers need to think about this..Kindly have a visit to the client..Understand his needs..Understand his strategy on online n offline front..Understand the competition..Don't behave in a herd mentality...

MBA Trends in India

MBA - Masters in Business Administration...Thats what we call..But fact of matter is that we dont have quality MBA's but just quantity..Every day a college comes in some part of corner of the country. For e.g in Pune itself there are more than 150 colleges offering MBA in different terminologies - MBA / PGDM / PGM and the list goes on & on..

Students are joining MBA's thinking that they would salary of 25K per month.Fact of matter is industry does not pay much..Magazines , News channels , institutions all have hyped up..Industry needs quality professionals but what college offers is worser than expected..When there are more than 10,000 students passing out in Pune itself, how do we expect them to get recruited. Above all when we are sector specific, we are not aware of it.

People who are doing finance don't know what finance is all about it. HR People are people who have not dealt with people. They are taught laws , motivation , conflict management but can they manage it practically..Marketing people are afraid to get into sales..They want to do branding without even knowing its basics.

Theory still is given prime importance. Are you good student if your scoring more than 60%. Does being a university topper add value in terms of practical exposure.. Today demand of students are more as compared to supply of colleges. Hence people are taking advantage of this situation but students wont understand. Parents are ready to pay donation in lacs even without knowing whether its worth paying.

Magazines give ranking of colleges which is never true on earth. Most of the Colleges show 100% placement , Higest salary package in more than 5 lacs. What a shame the education system has become..

Our syllabus is still of the age of 1990's.Still we keep the same sylabbus..Even questions papers have the same question most of the times..Its a fact that we dont develop interest in the minds of students..Its more of a push factor..Brains are not used creatively but in a mechanical manner..thinking cant be developed in a day but an effort needs to be made by the student , college & the people who are in charge of the Industry..

Today if we need to have quality of students then there should be a focussed approach rather than a money earning machine..

Rethinking the way sales and marketing should be!!!!

We talk about brands..But how much we understand is a big question?? Can talking really big make us deliver..Why are still living in this world of dreams?? Why can't we understand that it is not a sellers market anymore ??

Selling has changed but the approach of companies is still the same..Telecalling , mailers , print ads..Does it really work ?? A combination of online & offline front is important for any marketing strategy..

Agency doesn't understand the business but still promise is more than you can deliver..Just to earn that extra from the client , they would give irrelevant things..Relationship in today's environment but we need to invest in it along with a great product and service..The worst part is not sticking the deadlines..They say its an industry standard to deliver late..Come out of it..

It is really shocking to see when people talk about re-branding & they restrict themselves to logo or tag-line redesigning..They dont understand what needs to change is the structure along with an identity change..System needs to be in place..Customer & Employee Touch points are very important in today's world..Still the Human Resource is considered more as a cost rather an investment..Its the team which delivers..Sales target are important but only the quantitative factors are considered not the qualitative.. Basics of business are never understood..

Client is looking for solutions but do we deliver on that front.."Cut Copy Paste" - Simple that's we follow in today's marketing & design context..Why because we have too much competition..Why cant we give something new & innovative to the client..Why cant the marketing communication go hand in hand with what the end user would go for?? Make it easier for the end users...What is point having a hoarding with so much content when the attention span while driving is 5-10seconds.. Gone are the days when the client would go for "Tried & Tested" Formula..

It would be nice if you could also comment on my thinking process..Opinions & Criticism are accepted...

Customer Service – Do we actually mean it??

I came across this ad of ICICI Bank - Customer Service - Relationship beyond banking Or Khayal Aapka. And was shocked how we keep on talking about relationship beyond banking. But do we actually follow it.I don’t think so. The targets set by the company are non achievable. In order to get our incentive we end up mis-selling the product and services. Its been a trend which I have observed in the financial sector. It’s not just restricted to them..There are many industries which still do it.When you want to open an account there would be 10 people standing at your door step but when it comes to service there’s no one.Its a shocker of a treatment which most of the people get. We talk in marketing that – one happy customer would recommend 10 more customers or in short repeat customers always gives repeat business..But sorry to say we focus on the cream customers. We are more bothered about filling our pockets. The industry needs to change.Focus should be providing on customer & not pushing the product…

We talk about CRM. But it looks good only in books.Where is the practical implementation.Sales & marketing people start listening to what the customer want. Don’t push your product.Make your customers happy…They will come back & would remain with you much longer…

Students Helpine

In Today's world we come across lots of information.. There is so much confusion that we dont what to opt for..or what is the best for me..so what should we do... As we move into graduation to post graduation we are still in this process of finding what is best for us..

What is missing is the guidance aspect..Nobody understands the importance..some say it counseling..but is it true counseling..Most of the times we end up taking a wrong decision

Why it is required??

We have seen many a times in life that sharing experiences does help each other not only in solving problems but to generate more ideas & implement it..

Is it a formal or Informal Platform??
Its purely an informal platform..So please dont worry..Post your problems & new ideas so that we can discuss and find some interesting solutions..You have the full freedom to speak..

Who can be part of it ??
It can be BBA's / BCOM / MBA / MPM / PGDBM etc. Students who are in 1st year /2nd year of any college..

What could be discussed??
It could be your summer interns or maybe final internships..Anything that would help you in making your career effective & take right decisions on time..
We are there always for your support..

Now start posting your profiles too on the link !!!

Alcohol better than pesticide - Amazing Innovation

I just came across this article which was taking about this concept that how a farmer based in Jejuri used alcohol instead of pesticide...

Its amazing that the person implemented & used Desi Daru.. and the results were encouraging...
The concept used by him - when a man gets tired , he drinks to get a kick..& the same formula was applied to the plants...

And he was successful..With this he saved half his amount which he would have incurred in pesticide..maybe that is what our government should also learn...With prices going sky high what could a farmer do??

We talk about research..We spend huge amount of money on it but why it hasn't improved the situation of food in the country...Kudos to the farmer who thought of this idea..how much practical & long term this could be would only be known after proper testing..

Lets hope the idea is workable & we have a better solution..make more alcohol & use it for plants rather than humans...

Innovation is & would always be the need of this decade & the years to come by..Being conventional is no longer workable..Be different & deliver...

Skills Needed in MBA Program

An MBA program will hone your business skills, but will also require some existing skills from you. These skills will be both used and enhanced during your MBA study. You will need these skills not only during the entire course of your MBA program, but also in preparation for your future business ventures.

Math and logic
Business means that you will be dealing with money or more numbers. To deal with spreadsheets and other financial documents, you need to have good mathematical skills. You will also be dealing with more advanced mathematical functions, especially in subjects such as economics and actuarial science. If you are already interested in mathematics as a whole, you will have an advantage in some of your subjects.

Data analysis
It is important to do well in business analysis. If you can examine data carefully and create solutions for case studies, you will do well in the field of business. When filling in your spreadsheets, you shouldn’t focus on the mathematical side alone, but will also have to relate these numbers to business probabilities.Oral and verbal communication
You will need to write business proposals and pitch your products to make a sale. This means that you will also need excellent written and verbal communication skills. How can you use numbers and plans if you cannot put them into words?
Emotional quotient
Even if you are the smartest MBA student, you will not fare well in the real world without a high emotional quotient. You don’t only need to communicate, but also hat to connect with people. You need to know how to work with a team and further develop your leadership skills. For your business to do well, you need to expand your social network. This growing network may benefit your business in the future.

Why Networking is important ? { MBA }

When you enroll in an MBA program, you expect to learn advanced business skills. This means that by the time you earn your MBA degree, you are better qualified for management positions or for a completely different career. Of course, all these will depend on the kind of MBA program you choose. Aside from this, an MBA degree also provides other benefits, which include the opportunity for networking. Networking allows you to share ideas with people coming from different fields during your MBA stay.
The networking offer
An MBA program offers networking. Though other schools will provide their own brand of networking, an MBA school will connect you with like-minded people: future entrepreneurs and managers.
The benefits of networking
Why is networking so valuable? On the surface, networking is about socialization and about making sure that you have a well-balanced life. Of course, these are both valid reasons to support networking. From a business perspective, however, networking also focuses on finding contacts that can help in your future business ventures. Your current classmates may become future business partners or even clients. Or, they can contribute helpful tips on how you can better run your future company even when you are still a business student. It’s crucial for those who attend MBA schools to ask for the contact numbers of people they deal with. Who knows, these people may help them achieve business in the future?
Networking within your MBA program
Of course, it is not advisable to make connections merely for gain. You may establish friendship with other students or join organizations to expand your social network. This will help you become a good team worker and team leader as well. If you treat them more warmly, they will be more willing to help you out in the future. To maintain a strong link or build a better relationship, aAlso share your own business insights.

Online Marketing - The need of the 21st century

The last decade has been quite eventful..So many things have taken place at such a pace that we dont have time to breathe..
Its the marketing aspect which has changed quite considerably. When we think about the present scenario most of the companies are cutting on the marketing budget ? Why did this scenario took place? Why companies now have to look for various other options ? Why cant we manage our resources effectively in the 1st place? Why we keep on recruiting people even though the skill level is poor?
There are so many questions but very few answers...
Companies have started looking for various options. The one that comes to our mind is the online medium. Gone are the days of mass marketing. We know have to become more target oriented.
The things which are taught in our books needs to get implemented practically to some extent. It cant remain in the books for a long time.
Companies are now using the portal way to cut down on the cost & attract & retain the end user..
Globalization has made this happen & no one can stop things. Its the next big thing which will create a huge impact on various economies..
Companies need to be more externally focussed & please done stick to the same old formula of selling products. Its now about solutions as there are enough problems in the market. The website for instance needs to be looked upon as a medium of interaction between the end clients & the company. Its your value proposition. Dont create a negative impact. Make a meaningful website & many more things that wont irritate the customer..
Customers now have enough options to think for & hence companies need to be more effectively in delivering value & service.

It would be nice if you can comment & add some new dimensions to the topic...

Social Networking - It Really matters

Social Networking is the new trend of today's dynamic world. Facebook , Orkut , Twitter has really been a revelation with all kinds of people having different age groups, backgrounds , culture.. Communication was lacking a lot since ages but now its changed..

It has helped the business grow , knowledge sharing is done in a faster manner & that too thanks to the internet..Students have used this platform not only to make friends but also to share their experiences..This kind of networking is really useful & is required..Guidance is always missing & people are very shy to ask face to face. This hindrance is removed by this means of communication.

Business people are using it for expanding the customer reach , solving problems of people..Long term benefits are enormous...

More to come...

One Night at Anjar(Gujarat)

Life teaches you so many things that you never know.
My trip to Gujarat made me learn so many things that i could even think of.
It all started when i had go for primary research that was needed to be done to complete the data gaps...My mind was completely blank but it was fun.The whole travel right from travelling from train,to bus to trax & various modes of transport in Gujarat.
But the most important thing i learnt was when i was returning back to Mumbai. That night made me understand how life treats people in various ways.
1st person i met was not so old but a person who was fighting to prove himself. Even though he did not earn purchase but he had the eagerness to do that. Life may have treated him badly but he never gave up. He was happy with what he was doing. He married thrice but was never happy with the 1st 2 wives but was really happy when he met the right person. Even though he could not run away with the person he loved but now he truly found the person who could implement and take care of him. Just to earn some money he travelled 400km every weekend & then use to sell & from that he used to earn. It is so difficult when you think about this. Here is a person who has do all by himself but we have everything in life but we still dont value it but he did. He valued what he earned but we never do that. We have become so selfish that we dont want to help others. That is what i learnt from him - his dedication towards his work , family & himself.
2nd person i met was a typical frustrated person from his job. He was working in a good multinational firm but always had to travel for various projects. After 10 years of working he wanted to have a peaceful life where he wanted only to be at one place & be with his family. At initial stage when he started his work he wanted more money but now he wanted his family. He was not able to balance both these things. Aren't we failing in all these aspects nowadays. The pressure is so much that you don't do what you love. Why is it so? Why has money taken the centrestage now? Does it mean that if you become mature then you should stop behaving differently. Why has the child in every human being gets lost when we get old? I know earning money is good but still we can maintain a balance between both. Its upto us to decide to give time for urself whatever happens.
3rd & the final person i met was a government employee who was working with FCI from last 30 years but he did not bother about anything. Typical 9 to 5 employee who goes to the office but doesnt give his 100%. Why does this attitude comes in our life that we have to see the watch every now & then? Why do we take such jobs when we are not satisfied it? Its really bad...Do what you love. At some places we might need to compromise that is still fine but never give below your 100%. Its are commitment towards work which can make a difference to ourself as well are life...
Lets start thinking about all these things..
Picture abhi khatam nahi huyi!!!!!

Indian Stock Market

Stock Market has been really volatile..Nobody knows where it is heading..
Is it South or is it North?? Maybe the one who guesses it right would be earning huge..
After every news analyst views changes i.e one day the person says that market is now going to go up since it has botttomed out but the next day the same view changes..
Its tough to make predictions & also time the market. People make this mistake again and again but dont learn from their mistakes. Its shocking but true.
14000 or 10000 who will get it right..Why are we not able to understand the macro and micro factors. We usually miss them & make an error in judgement. We should concentrate on those things also. How effectively we can do it, will make a big difference..
More to come ..

Placement Preparation

Placement season is going to start soon..
Pressure will start building as the dayz start progressing..
Its now upto us to stand up and deliver the goods..
Company , Package , Profile ????
What should give more importance to ???
Its tough to decide what priority should we give..But follow some simple rules..
1. Find out your strengths & weaknesses..Start analyzing rite now before its too late...
Work on your weaknesses to make urself better than others.
2. Communication - Most important thing in placement..If you cannot communicate well then there is very minimal chance you will get a good placements..
Knowledge + Communication = Good Placement
Knowledge - Communication = Doubtful Placement
3. Start working on your domain aspect..Poor domain knowledge will make you more frustrated if you are not able to clear the rounds during placements.
4. Beyond domain there are things which you need to work on like you should whats happening in economy , Inflation , Stock market , IIP no.s etc.. You should now start reading not only newspapers as well as magazines like Business Today , Dalal Street.
5. Aptitude - The 1st step would alwayz be to clear the apti test..Start working on that aspect before it becomes too late..Every company has its own criteria..So it might be one of the toughest if its TCS.
** Criteria varies from company to company..
Economy overall is not doing well but if we make ourselves well equipped then nobody can stop us from getting the best placement..Its not neccesary we will get into the best company but keep urself flexible as far as the package is concerned. At start its better to start with a good profile..
The more you learn & apply the better you will be..
More coming up..
please come up with more ideas to help each other.

What is MBA?

What is MBA...
In theoretical terms it is Masters of Business Administration...
In practical terms really do we use it..We only do n use what is bookish knowledge.People never go beyond that.
Why it is been said n proved tht 95% of Graduates & Post graduates are unemployable?
Its been proven people stop using brains when they should be using it...
People dont go beyond text books, pragati n sharp..why is the education system still narrow minded...why is still more importance given to marks and not the knowledge>?
People cnt read newspaper jst bcz its boring...
Never forget u stop readin tht means u stop learnin..tht usually happens once u start working..
Make it a point tht u observe evrythin n analyze...
More still to cm...But we need to find answers to all these problems...
